Madge Scott

Madge Scott is an award-winning Artist of International History and Folk Art. Living in Hastings on Hudson for almost a decade and a half; she began the first steps to drawing and painting in 1997 and had her first gallery show in October of 2005. She’s purely a self-taught artist who was once a wood carver, nurse and Jack-of-all-trades.

Madge’s work has been viewed in many venues in Westchester, New York City and the Galerie Bonheur in St. Louis, Missouri, which sold her work for years. Her work is sold nationally and internationally. She’s been a member of the Blue Door Gallery in Yonkers, participated in gallery shows at Blue Door, Upstream, Gallery 66, Oak and Oil, The Donald Gallery (solo) Selena Gallery at Long Island University (Solo) Fordham University, Arts Westchester, Katonah Museum of Art (group), The Jamaican Consulate, Libraries all over Westchester, Philipse Manor Hall, (Solo) Greenburgh and Hastings on Hudson Town Halls, Community Centers, Cabrini (Solo) and many more places including local cafes and businesses. She’s a part of the State Department’s Embassy Program with pieces in the Congolese Embassy in Africa. Her work has been in periodicals, a book (Images of America, Hastings on Hudson, published by the Historical Society), Magazines including The Brothers Perspective Magazine, Kolumn Magazine, City College of New York Alumni Magazine, local newspapers (Rivertowns Enterprise, Journal News, New York City and International Newspapers (Jamaican).
Madge won the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award in January 2013. Madge is a volunteer for NAACP, Gifted Hands program and have also volunteered at Children’s Village.

Her painting, drawing and voice was recently featured in a documentary film, “In Search Of Finah Misa Kule”, (City Lore project), written in a recent play at the Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack New York, Nov-Dec, 2015,titled “Good People.”
