Janet Sikirica
I am primarily a fiber artist although I have worked with many different forms of textile design – from silk painting to industrial wool. I have a passion with wool, which began at an early age with knitting. In 2011, I continued to pursue various ways to create wearable art with wool and thus began my journey with wet felting.
Felting has become my daily passion, along with dyeing wool and other protein fibers, and the occasional eco-printing on natural fibers. I continue to study various types of sheep’s wool and the wonderful fiber that these varieties produce. The possibilities are endless. My recent work includes wool wall panels and vessels, along with my continued design work in the form of wearable art.
I enjoy the esthetics of looking at something beautiful – a combination of fiber, texture, color and silhouette. Felting offers me to work with wonderful versatile wool. It allows me to adopt all that all that I love in creating wearable art and objets d’art.
Among many of my other creative endeavors is millinery design. I am a certified milliner and occasionally still block a fashionable hat or create fantasy headpieces just for the fun of it!
