Janet Lippmann

BA and MA in Art and Education from Brooklyn College. Post graduate studies, N.Y.U, The Art Students League, and The Pastel Society of America.

Taught Art in Cincinnati, NYC and Westchester Pubic Schools. Teaching painting and pastels to retired NYC teachers since 2010.

Founded and directed The River Gallery, Irvington-on-Hudson, N.Y. from 1974 to 1989.

Numerous one-person exhibitions including The River Gallery, Irvington-on-Hudson, New York, The Newington Cropsey Foundation Gallery, Hastings, New York, SUNY/Westchester Community Gallery, The Martucci Gallery at Irvington Public Library, and at The National Arts Club.

Included in several group shows, including The Pastel Society of America, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe, The Salmagundi Club, The National Arts Club Exhibiting Artists Annual Exhibition, The Hudson Valley Art Association, The Pen and Brush Club, and National Association of Pastel Painters of America.

Awards received include the National Arts Club award for oil and watercolor, Hudson Valley Art Association for pastel.

Recent awards include The Art Spirit Foundation Award for Pastel, 2004,2005,2009 and 2010 at NAC Annual Exhibition, and the Flora Gifunni Award for Pastel at the 2015 Catherine Lorillard Wolf Art Club Annual Exhibition.

Caspari greeting Card Company published 10 images of Giverny which were distributed worldwide.

Janet Lippmann Paintings, 1986-2006 was self-published in 2006.

A story Janet wrote about her life-changing experience of painting at Giverny was published in American Artist Magazine.
Janet has been an Artist-In-Residence at The National Arts Club since 1991. She is listed in “Who’s Who in American Art”, “Who’s Who in American Women” and “Who’s Who in the World”
