Ellen Crane
My interest in movement and background in dance led me to explore various methods of expressing kinetic energy in still photographs. Recently I’ve used a moving camera and long shutter speeds to create images using various light sources and subjects. I strive to create work that conveys vitality, joy and transcendence. After dancing with ballet companies in the Midwest and Southwest, I studied photography at NYU, worked for photographer Lois Greenfield and covered dance for publications including Dance Magazine, New York Magazine, The New York Times and The Village Voice. After moving to Dobbs Ferry with my husband Ron and son Benjamin I became more focused on fine art through my involvement with RiverArts® ellencrane.com
