Victoria Bugbee
Victoria Bugbee has been working on paper either drawing, writing or taking her visual exploration into performance based work since 1976. For the 25th RiverArts Studio Tour Bugbee is mounting a retrospective of her drawings upon which her in-situ performances and plays are based. Works on paper include “The Music Series,” “Le Pavillion Hotel Series,” “The Vacation – Worlds of Desperation Series,” “Boxer Shorts,” and “The Chinatown Series,” mural size pastels & mixed media of street scenes, firecracker explosion, & fish everywhere. Also being shown is a series of videos and photos of the performances that sprang from Bugbee’s Graphics. These include “The Gas Station Project,” “Life and Death With Business In Between,” “A Surreal Soap Opera – Toxic Waste Meets Beach Resort,” “Murder at Le Pavillion” “The Vacation-Worlds of Desperation” and “Boxer Shorts.”
Bugbee is a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow and has received 3 Artist Initiated Grants from The Bureau of Cultural Affairs, City of Atlanta as well as a commission for new works from Creative Time/Lincoln Center Out of Doors. Currently she is finishing her debut feature film “Out of State – A Gothic Romance,” shot on location at Bugbee’s Hastings on Hudson residence.
