Living and working as an architect in Hastings on Hudson, surrounded by the natural beauty of the area, as well as many intense thinkers and artists, I attempt to both explore and find peace.
A house is a physical shelter, a place to live and to dream. It has a constructed meaning and it is part of natural surroundings. But where do our thoughts dwell? In the present which is crowded with both freedoms and limitations, connections and loneliness, what sustains us? Where do we find comfort and what do we escape into? Into nature or into imagination? Or do we imagine what we’re seeing? The landscape of the mind may not be tangible, but if we look closely, we can see it just as clearly as the real world.
